Norman's Story

He's a scrapperWe got Norman from the Humane Society as a kitten. Until he was about two he stayed in all the time, but he was ALWAYS trying to get outside and would howl when we wouldn't let him. We finally started letting him out occasionally and he was fine until a new cat, Jack, moved in across the street. He and Jack have a blood feud. They fight viciously and Norman is usually the aggressor. We've taken him to the vet three different times with significant head wounds.
The vet prescribed an anti-anxiety medication. We give it to him at night, and he's fine. Doesn't howl to go out, sleeps soundly, and he seems perky in the morning. We are very pleased - he's even more playful and pleasant to the dog. But he still wants to go outside and even a short visit to the front yard can result in a rumble with his mortal enemy Jack. Today he bit my husband as he collected him from yet another escape from the house/fight with Jack escapade. If anyone has suggestions for daytime happiness, I'd love to hear them! |
